Does it amaze anyone else that you can send a letter anywhere in the United States for a simple 45 cents? I can sit down in California and write a letter to my sister in Maryland and it will get picked up at my place in Long Beach and arrive on her doorstep in a simple two days.

As I sit here in my hotel room in Dallas I can't help but think about home. Mostly I think about how much I miss Mr. Coleman and our sweet pups but I also miss my favorite space. There are a ton of reason why I love this little corner. Here are just a few of them.

Remember when I posted a couple of weeks ago about growing my hair out? Remember how I talked about it being an odd length, growing it out, blah, blah, blah. Well...I didn't quite make it. I kind of cut it all off.
There you have it, my new do! I really love it. It's so easy and it's so nice to have a hairstyle again. My hairstylist Ashley did a fantastic job!
While I was taking these lovely photos for you I figured it would be fun to show you some of my spectacles.
There are my fun cat eyes, the aqua ones, my Sally Jessy's, my tortoise shell fashion designers, the little black dress of glasses and of course my sunglasses. All of these are prescription and were purchased online at Zenni Optical for about $8 - $20 per pair. I love having fun glasses to wear. Since contacts aren't the easiest to wear with my dry eyes I usually opt for glasses and it's nice to have some different options. I've become quite the collector of glasses and these aren't even all of them!

I've been to a lot of baby showers...A LOT! When my sister-in-law Lauren and I decided to throw my other sister-in-law Charisa a shower we were so excited to have a shower for her that was full of special little details.
We started with lovely, handmade invitations. It took Lauren and I an afternoon to finish the invites but it was worth it. I was so pleased with how nicely these turned out.
Next was the bunting for the shower. I wanted the bunting to be sweet and girly but still classy. We tried to keep with greens and browns for the shower and I thought these fabrics were a lovely combination together. I put the baby's name on one side but the other side blank for a little versatility.
Lauren created the terrariums for the party. We decided they would be lovely table decorations and party favors. She found them easier to make then we thought they would be and made five of them! They worked out to be lovely gifts for the winners and we had one for Charisa to take home as well.
I made a couple of custom silhouettes for my sweet niece, a fawn and a squirrel. They made lovely decorations and I hope my sweet little niece will love them for many years to come.
Last but not least, my gift to my sweet niece and Charisa was this sweet little quilt. I wanted to make her something fun and bright and I adore how it came out! It was a lot of work but it was fun and I got to use my new embroidery machine even if I the date did end up covered by the binding. Oops!
Lauren and I had a lovely time putting together Charisa's shower and I know we both can't wait to meet our sweet niece Ada!

Do you ever have those weeks where everything is absolutely 100% jam packed? My whole month of March was that way culminating in last week. Last week I didn't have a day where every second wasn't already planned out which meant that everything had to go exactly the right way everyday to make sure that nothing was missed.
So what happened? Our truck broke down. Therefore changing how everything in the rest of the week progressed.
Mostly it resulted in me wanting to fly away like that silly little seagull that just kept hanging back enjoying the breeze while we were on our harbor cruise. I envy that little bird, not a care in the world just floating around on invisible currents of air. Sigh...what a lovely little life!
Anyhow, all of the things I had planned to blog last week will now pop up this week! Well...hopefully.

About a month ago I was asked to create two custom aprons. I was really excited about the project and I think it's always great fun to collaborate with a customer to create a custom order. My customer requested two aprons, one women's and one men's, in a nautical fabric. She chose this lovely blue, red and white nautical fabric and I chose a the accent fabrics.
The ladies apron was easy. After creating so many I've found it easy to visualize and create fun lady's aprons...the men's apron was not so simple.
First I tried to make a men's apron that was similar to my regular ladies apron design, this did not work so well. Then I went with a more manly looking design and it was much better. Lastly, I switched the main and accent fabric colors. The third option was my favorite but I left it up to my customer to decide between number two and three. She chose number two!
All in all I think they make quite a lovely pair and I was very pleased with how both of them turned out. Most of all my customer was extremely happy and she sent me a message that said, "They absolutely loved them! And the aprons are beautiful!!! Thank you so much!!"
Messages like that warm my heart and make the work worth every minute.

*Oh and a special thank you to Mr. Coleman for modeling the men's apron for me and taking quite a few jabs for doing it. I love him and I'm so thankful for all of his support, even when it can be somewhat humilating for him he is happy to do it.

My friend Andrew writes a thoughtful, well spoken blog here. You really should check it out if you have a few minutes, it's quite enjoyable. While I was perusing through his blog a couple of days ago I found this awesome video. The timing was perfect, it was just what I needed to see.

Not long before Mr. Coleman and I moved into our apartment I found these awesome pillows at Anthropologie. I liked how they looked painted and they were on sale for around $30 so I bought two! Imagine our surprise when I came home and found out this little mischievous guy had discovered them.
Now I know he looks all sweet and innocent but something happens when he gets left home alone. He turns into the Tasmanian Devil and nothing, I mean nothing, is safe! We had those pillows sitting on the couch ever since we got him almost one year ago and he never touched them but something in him snapped about a week ago and this happened...
(Just in case you thought it was a little hole my hand is there for your reference.) I was bummed but instead of being mad at my sweet little pup I reminded myself that it wasn't his fault he was home alone and decided it'd be a great time to make new pillow covers!
I discovered that the 20" x 20" forms were in perfect condition and decided to use this awesome fabric I found at Ikea. Using the tutorial from my Home Ec class I embarked on a pillow making journey that turned out exquisitely!
These are simple pillow covers, no zippers or buttons or anything fancy that a certain little dog might want to chew off them. The piping was pretty easy and being where I am at with my sewing now I definitely could have done this without the instructions, which made me feel pretty dang good! The pillows look just lovely on my sofa and despite one little defect, (I purposely have a panel on the back that faces the wrong direction, I didn't want to waste extra fabric making the patterns match,) and I just adore them.
