Last March I posted about cutting my hair off. I absolutely loved how my hairdresser and friend Ashley was able to give me exactly what I wanted. It was short all around and long on one side. For a year I loved it and then...I started to get bored.
This is a common occurrence with me. I rarely keep a hairstyle for longer than a year. I change the color or the length, something so when I decided I wanted to grow my hair out for something different I knew it was going to be kind of rough for awhile.
That was one of the things Ashley and I talked about when I first cut my hair. "When you're ready this is going to be really hard to grow out," she told me. So when I went in to cut it I was already feeling bummed. Then Ashley worked her magic and asked me, "Do you like it." I looked at myself in the mirror, "Not really." She laughed at me. "I know, but hey you knew it was going to be kind of awkward for awhile."
So now I'm left with kind of challenging hair. It's an odd length. The sides are super short and growing out. It's all just not right. I mean it's not horrible in any way, it's just doesn't feel good. It's funny how something as simple as hair can do that. Especially for women, how your hair makes you feel can be so uplifting or it can also really bum you out. I mean every lady knows how great a "good hair day" can make you feel!
I've finally worked out some of the new challenges and I'm getting used to this odd growing out phase. I find solace in lots of bandanas and scarves! (There's also a weird necessity for small clips which I'm not used to.) I'm looking for a couple of really nice square scarves that are a little more fancy than bandanas so if you know of any place I can find a couple that don't cost an arm and a leg let me know!
